Titleist Tips: To Hit A Hybrid, Think Pie Crust
In his golf lessons, Titleist staff instructor Skip Guss frequently tells students that, "Golf is art." To be sure, golf requires some analytical thinking, but to truly play the game well you have to be creative. You have to use the right side of your brain. And you have to think visually.
One visual cue that helped Skip with his own game was an image of a pie, a mental picture that came in very handy when he was struggling with how to hit a hybrid. As Skip describes in this video, if a golf ball were resting on top of an apple pie, there are important differences in the way that you would strike an iron, a driver and the club that once gave him fits - the hybrid. Try Skip's mental imagery and see if it doesn't help you to improve your contact, trajectory and control.
