Titleist Tips: Train Mechanically, Play Athletically

Posted in Ttileist

To play golf at a high level, you have to know how to control the flight of your golf ball - the curve right-to-left and left-to-right, as well as how high or low the ball flies. This kind of shot control requires a good understanding of swing mechanics, but the last place you want to be thinking mechanically is on the golf course. Instead, follow the advice that Titleist staff instructor Skip Guss provides in this video on how to draw the golf ball. The mechanical keys to hitting this shot are properly aligning the clubface and controlling the path of your swing. But as Skip explains, it’s just as important to build a mental image of this shot as you practice. You can call upon this “video”, as Skip refers to it, when you face a similar shot on the golf course. It will allow you to react to the shot athletically and you can leave the technical thoughts on the practice range, where they belong.
