The Deer Valley Golf Club is a semi-private facility that includes an 18-hole golf course, practice area, driving range, clubhouse and restaurant. Deer Valley Golf Club is set alongside the idyllic Deer Valley Residential Development which was built within 475 acres of natural valley and prairie terrain, offering quite country living with all of the amenities of contemporary community life. The golf course has matured beautifully and is recognized as one of the finest golf courses in Saskatchewan.

Position Overview:
The Irrigation Technician/Intern monitors and waters the golf course on a daily basis. He/she also repairs and maintains all components of the irrigation system: pipes, sprinklers, drainage, satellite boxes, pumphouse components. Works on diverse range of activities involving irrigation maintenance and construction as well as assisting team members on the golf course with daily maintenance tasks. The Irrigation Technician/Intern will receive hands on experience helping to manage the golf course maintenance in all aspects from maintaining bunkers to applying fertilizer and pesticides. The Deer Valley Golf Club strives on its team work atmosphere and the Irrigation Technician/Intern can expect to participate and learn various golf course maintenance practises throughout the year. This position can expect 5-day work weeks, with 2 days off, 40-hour weeks and occasional overtime.

Duties to Include:

  • Work closely with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent on all irrigation repairs, troubleshooting, programming, and planning.
  • Monitor moisture levels using soil moisture meter and hand watering.
  • This position will be actively involved in all facets of maintaining golf courses: course set up and daily maintenance practices, cultural procedures, fertilizer applications, record keeping, crew management.
  • This position can be tailored to meet specific learning objectives and is ideal for aspiring Golf Course Superintendents looking to gain necessary experience needed to further their careers in the industry.
  • This candidate will be required to provide direction, support, and development to other team members and will gain exposure to the management of an 18-hole facility.
